Our story

Matthew Fitzgerald is a second-generation organic grain farmer in central Minnesota. He and his family raise corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, and edible beans across more than 2,500 acres. Alongside farming, Matthew has worked as a certified organic inspector and a consultant for farmers making the transition to organic, sharing his knowledge to help others succeed.
The idea for Farm Flow was born on a shop whiteboard during one of the busiest seasons on the farm. Matthew and his team used colored magnets to track fieldwork, plan weed control passes, and note rainfall events. The board turned chaos into clarity, giving the crew a shared picture of the work ahead and making it the season much more productive.
As the farm grew, the board couldn’t travel to the fields, and the limits of the analog system became clear. Matthew wondered if the same clarity could live in a mobile tool—one that also tracked records for organic certification, captured weather in real time, and helped train employees. That question became the seed of Farm Flow.
Today, Farm Flow is more than a board. It’s a software platform built with and for farmers. It keeps plans visible, records organized, and farm knowledge preserved in digital form. The goal remains the same as it was on the whiteboard: make farm work visible.
